Tips on Opening Your Swimming Pool

by "Admin Andy" May 06, 2008

There are a few steps you can take to make your pool opening a bit easier in the Spring. Once the weather starts to heat up, usually towards the beginning of March, peel a corner of your winter cover back and add some liquid chlorine to the pool water. Circulate it with the pool brush or submersible pump and leave the corner of the pool open for about an hour. This allows the chlorine and by-products to gas off.

If you are using a mesh cover you should secure the cover immediately. This gives your pool a head start and prevents algae growth as the weather gets warmer. If you have a solid cover keep all leaves, debris, and water off your cover while it is being used. Full, dirty covers are a safety hazard and a clean cover ensures easy removal for the Spring.
