    How to use alum or aluminum sulfate in swimming pools. Used as a flocculant, alum is very effective to clear cloudy pool water or swampy pool conditions. Alum is not for everyday pool water clarity, but used as a last resort, given the extra work in vacuuming to waste, that is required.
